Disruptive Innovation: Collaborative Discussion

Disruptive innovation occurs when we can transform what was once complicated and expensive to something that is affordable and attainable. Technology in the classroom fits this description perfectly. Through the pandemic many teachers were launched into using technology in a new and disruptive way this caused for a great amount of change in the methods in which education is received by students. This change allowed for more focused instruction which in turn allowed our students to have the differentiation that they need to truly be successful.

Blended learning can be seen in many ways and often when discussing this topic technology is seen as the biggest element. Technology is a tool that enhances blended learning and allows the students to be more in control of their learning pace, and instruction level. Blended learning can also help to emphasize competency based learning. In this format students will get instruction, take assessments, get feedback and master a skill before moving on, which allows students to truly understand the material.

These videos sparked many ideas for innovation in our classrooms and I am sure that throughout further readings and videos I will have more to discuss about disruptive innovation.
