Empowering Change through Emotive Messaging: The Impact of Words in Effective Communication

In the realm of effective communication, words carry power and influence over an audience which is often underestimated. The Power of Words video shed light on a profound realization: detached facts may fall short in evoking the intended impact, often leaving hearts untouched despite addressing the mind (Power of Words, 2010). When the message was changed it evoked emotions from the people passing by. If we truly want to create change we need to address the values, attitudes, and feelings of our audience to motivate them to join our cause (Harapnuik, 2015).

In today's digital age, video media is widely consumed and used to convey messages. When thinking about creating a digital message we have to think about how we connect with our audience, emphasizing the significance of stirring emotions alongside imparting information. The insights brought forth by the BSGuys challenge the conventional approach of bombarding audiences with information when what they truly seek is motivation (Crucial Learning, 2015). It asks the question: what does our audience genuinely need? Often, it's not just information; it's the emotional resonance that motivates and drives action.

Often as educators, we lean towards the cognitive domain, students think and learn with their brains but we need to also address the affective domain. As teachers, if we address both domains we will improve our effectiveness in planning and teaching children. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this subject.
