Enhancing Learning with Audio and Visual Tools: My Experience with Canva and Microsoft Stream

I have used various tools to create audio and visual resources throughout my teaching and learning. My favorites are Canva and Microsoft Steam (built into my school-issued laptop). Canva is an excellent tool for visually appealing presentations, while Microsoft Steam easily records the screen and audio. Canva is user-friendly and streamlines the creation of content for the classroom. Microsft Stream allows you to screen record quickly, whether with or without your camera. The video files are saved directly to your computer and are straightforward to use. For math, I use this to screen record myself, writing notes on OneNote that I share with my students. I often make videos for my students to watch at their own pace or to rewatch if they are absent. This past school year, I had the opportunity to teach another teacher's classes through videos I created and posted to edpuzzle or Google Classroom while the teacher was on maternity leave. This was a great learning opportunity to use the audio and visual tools I had access to. It was also valuable to see that my students were all learning and could rewind and fast forward when needed to understand the content.

I have heard of many other great tools but personally have yet to use, such as: Screencastify, Powtoon, and CapCut. I plan to look into these further.

In his TED Talk, Salman Khan highlighted the many benefits of students using videos to learn. I've observed these same advantages in my classroom; students can pause and repeat the material at their own pace and on their own schedule (Khan, 2011). This approach has proven to be highly effective.
