Since starting the Applied Digital Learning (ADL) program in October 2023, I have gained knowledge that I can immediately apply in my classroom and district. I have always enjoyed technology and exploring different learning models, and the ADL program has allowed me to explore blended and flipped learning further. Reflecting on my learning journey in this program, I am prompted to consider how the core components of choice, ownership, voice, and authenticity (COVA) have influenced my experience (Harapnuik, 2018). These elements have shaped my understanding and inspired me to incorporate them meaningfully into my ePortfolio. When I first began the ADL program, I was lost and overwhelmed with the freedom in my learning, but this has been transformative. Tackling the ePortfolio using the COVA model has been very enjoyable. Seeing myself and my accomplishments in the digital format, I created has been exciting, and I always look for opportunities to share them with others.
As I advance with the ADL program and beyond, I look forward to implementing the ideas from the COVA model to better myself as an educator and to build learning platforms to help my students and colleagues flourish in and out of the classroom. Reflecting on the most valuable lesson learned thus far in the program, I would say it is essential to embrace growth and discomfort. Through challenging assignments and collaborative discussions, I have learned that growth often occurs outside my comfort zone. By embracing new experiences and perspectives, I have expanded my understanding and developed new skills to serve me well in my future endeavors.
