My Impact on the Learning Community: 5302 & 5304

This post will reflect on my contributions to my learning journey and the broader learning community. As I take a moment to contemplate my involvement in the courses 5302: Concepts of Educational Tech and 5304: Leading Organizational Change, here's my self-assessment:

5302: Concepts of Educational Tech: 95/100

5304: Leading Organizational Change: 95/100

Self-assessment is vital to continuing growth. Throughout this term, I have made great efforts to meet the key and support contributions. Through EDLD 5302 and 5304, I have had the opportunity to continue growing my innovation plan and preparing to implement my ideas.

My learning community was crucial to my success in 5302 and 5304. Using teams, our learning community consisted of myself, Francys Machado, Rebecca Chang, Rose Rayner, Robin Holk, Kayla Miller, Mia Fayerweather, Samara Marin, Sara-Ann Santana, and many more. Every group member contributed in one way or another, providing feedback, answering questions, and viewing each other's work.

What is working?

Microsoft Teams was an excellent platform for facilitating discussions within my learning community throughout the term. We utilized it for various purposes, from sharing links for live classes to seeking feedback on our assignments. Looking ahead in the program, this will remain an excellent platform for us. It enabled me to receive valuable feedback on my growth mindset plan, learning manifesto, and influencer strategy while also allowing me to review my peers' work and offer them constructive feedback.

Attending every live session conducted by Dr. Padovan and Dr. Bedard this term was my top priority, as it provided crucial insights into our assignments. I recall missing only one live session throughout the term and diligently taking weekly notes to contribute to my success. These live sessions allowed me to gain insights and share resources with classmates. I also helped my learning community peers navigate to the correct links for these live sessions.

I utilized Microsoft's OneNote to manage my notes, assignments, and coursework, keeping me organized and consistently meeting deadlines. With OneNote, I could seamlessly access required videos and take notes simultaneously while addressing discussion board topics. It's a fantastic digital notebook I wholeheartedly endorse for others. It is my primary tool across various educational settings, including undergraduate and graduate studies, and my role as a classroom mathematics teacher.

What can I do better?

The spring semester as an educator is fast-paced and busy, and balancing the ADL program, teaching three different math preps, and having personal time was a struggle for me. My time management skills took a toll, and I sometimes struggled to keep up. With a 55-minute commute, I often ran in the door and jumped straight to Zoom for a Monday or Tuesday night class. I spend most of my weekends completing assignments as it is my only open time. Going forward, I must adjust my time management and make a pacing outline to help myself keep up.

Contribution to the Learning Community

Throughout these courses, I was consistent in my formatting on my ePortfolio and regularly used APA format. I jumped head-first into the required readings and gained insightful information. Watching videos and reflecting on the information sparked many ideas for course assignments, and I also continued reviewing prior students' work. I often shared my work with my learning community to gain insights to improve and help others. Utilizing Teams I conversed about assignments and provided feedforward to my peers.

I am very proud of how far my ePortfolio has come, and I enjoyed formatting my pages for EDLD 5302 and 5304. I have applied the principles of COVA within my work in the program thus far and look forward to continuing to build on them.
