My Impact on the Learning Community: 5315 & 5317

This post will reflect on my contributions to my learning journey and the broader learning community. As I take a moment to contemplate my involvement in the courses 5315: Assessing Digital Learning Instruction and 5317: Resources and Digital Environments, here's my self-assessment:

5315: Assessing Digital Learning Instruction: 90/100

5317: Resources and Digital Environments: 90/100

Embracing self-assessment has been a transformative journey for me. It has not only allowed me to identify areas for improvement but also to celebrate my achievements. I have diligently worked towards meeting the key and supporting contributions this term, and the results have been encouraging. Through EDLD 5315 and 5317, I have had the opportunity to develop my innovation plan further and prepare to implement my ideas. Exploring research further to create an Action Research plan, as well as to write an article for publication, have furthered my knowledge greatly.

My learning community, comprised of myself, Rose Rayner, Joshua Kolawole, Samara Marin, Sara-Ann Santana, and many more, was instrumental in my success in 5315 and 5317. Each member contributed to our collective growth in their own unique way, providing valuable feedback, answering questions, and engaging with each other's work. I am truly grateful for their support and collaboration.

What is working?

This term, I took on a leadership role of creating the Teams group that we utilized throughout the courses. This is a great tool to share assignments, ask for feedback, and clarify questions before going to the professor. We had great conversations that allowed us to further our learning and collaborate successfully.

Sara-Ann created a Google Doc that I copied and adapted to stay organized this term. I added class meetings and color-coded the discussion boards. This was a great tool for me to see what I needed to get done. Being that it was summer, I had many workshops and Conferences to attend to become a better math educator, and this allowed me to keep up with my course load.

What can I do better?

Summertime is busy with vacations, professional development workshops, and math conferences. This sometimes led to me missing the live class meetings. I did make it a point to review everything I missed and rewatch the sessions, but I could do better to attend all live sessions.

Contribution to the Learning Community

Throughout these courses, I consistently formatted my ePortfolio and regularly used and improved my APA format. I jumped head-first into the required readings and gained insightful information. Watching videos and reflecting on the information sparked many ideas for course assignments, and I also continued reviewing prior students' work. I often shared my work with my learning community to gain insights to improve and help others. Utilizing Teams I conversed about assignments and provided feedforward to my peers.
